Ways to Donate Food

Feeding America West Michigan relies on food donations, large and small! Since 1981, we have responsibly distributed donations to our partner food pantries and meal programs that serve families facing hunger throughout 40 counties in West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

If you would like to help fill our neighbors’ plates, consider donating food in one of these ways.

Virtual Food Drive
A virtual food drive helps the food bank provide more nourishing food than most people could collect on their own. And while we readily accept donations of food, we know that it’s not always easy or efficient to collect canned goods and pantry staples from friends, family, and colleagues. Instead of collecting food items, a virtual food drive happens online. We collect financial donations that we can use to buy the food we need most, including perishable items like fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy. We’re able to turn every dollar donated into 15 meals’ worth of food!

Surplus food
If you’re a farmer, manufacturer, distributor or retailer, the food bank will gladly accept your surplus food.

Food drive
If you would like to help boost awareness of hunger’s pervasiveness while putting food on our shelves, consider running a food drive.
