On December 1, the Walker Applebee’s hosted a Right Brain Brewery tap takeover. The restaurant pledged to donate 20 percent of all food and drink sales to Feeding America West Michigan during the event. The results: more than $600 raised for local hunger relief.
That money will provide upwards of 2,400 meals to people in West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. The timing could not be better, as 2016 is on track to be the fourth record year in a row for Feeding America West Michigan.
Last year, the organization distributed 27.6 million pounds of food. This year, they expect to distribute more than 29 million, more than a third of which will be fresh fruits and vegetables.
Feeding America West Michigan wants to thank Team Schostak, Right Brain Brewery, the staff at Applebee’s, and everyone who came out to support local hunger relief during the event.
Hops Against Hunger supporters have another way to get involved in December. Now through the end of the month, Ore Dock Brewing Company in Marquette is donating $1 per pint of their Glad Tidings English-style IPA, available at the brewery and 22 other bars and restaurants throughout the Upper Peninsula.
