Who We Are

Feeding America West Michigan is at the center of a united community effort driven by the core beliefs that hunger is unacceptable and meals can change lives.

Map of the 40 counties of the Feeding America West Michigan service area comprising the upper peninsula of Michigan and the western third of the lower peninsula. Physical presence indicated in Grand Rapids, Cadillac, Harbor Springs, and Traverse City.We envision:

A community in which all neighbors are nourished and empowered within an equitable food system. Together, we work every day to make this vision a reality.

We do this by living out our mission:

To gather and distribute food to relieve hunger and increase food security in West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

We’ve served neighbors since 1981.

Our work has been collaborative ever since a few humanitarians came together to channel safe, surplus food onto the plates of West Michigan families in need. Since then, the collaboration has grown. Today, we serve neighbors through an expansive hunger-relief network consisting of hundreds of food pantries and meal programs across 40 counties.

Feeding America West Michigan is one of 200 food banks in Feeding America’s nationwide network. We are one of seven Feeding America member food banks located in Michigan.
