Storytelling at the Food Bank

At Feeding America West Michigan, we uplift client stories in order to educate about our work, advocate for change and show the real lives of neighbors who are facing hunger. Below, find a client pledge and info sheets that explain why we tell stories and how the process works for all involved stakeholders.

To the clients whose stories we uplift, we pledge: Put your needs first and provide support whenever possible Tell your story authentically Openly share how your story will be used Photograph or film you honorably and only if given consent Speak from a place of safety and dignity Focus on your ability to create your own change and be the hero of your own story Highlight your lived experience to educate those listening, reading or watching your story about the challenges food-insecure neighbors face
