Michigan Gateway Community Foundation to fund four Mobile Food Pantries in Marcellus community

A few boxes of food are lined up waiting to be distributed

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich., Nov. 19, 2020  — Michigan Gateway Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council has awarded Feeding America West Michigan with a $1,730 grant. The funding will enable the food bank to provide quarterly Mobile Food Pantries in Marcellus.

The food distributions aim to serve 60 families each. At 3,000 lbs. of food per distribution, 15,000 meals’ worth of food will be provided through the Mobile Pantries.

In Cass County, where Marcellus is located, 1 in 8 people – including 1,560 children –faced hunger before the pandemic. Now, that ratio is projected to be higher. Anyone in need of food support can attend the Mobile Pantries.

The Marcellus Community Food Pantry will host the Mobile Pantries sponsored by the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation. Once the food distributions are scheduled, more details will appear at www.FeedWM.org/mobile-pantry-schedule/?county=Cass
