This year, we are presented with an especially challenging legislative landscape. The list of issues Congress must tackle is longer than ever. Some congressional leaders have signaled they are interested in finding ways to cut federal programs. At the same time, the policy landscape remains unpredictable and members are frustrated with gridlock.
We cannot let these challenges get in the way of a Farm Bill that protects and strengthens the federal nutrition programs that are critical to our mission of ending hunger in our service area and beyond. Times like these make it even more important for us to join together as a network on behalf of people facing hunger, raise our voices to cut through the noise, and make our priorities heard by congressional offices. The Farm Bill is the most consequential legislation dedicated to food policy – and the network, as the experts on the ground feeding people every day, has a valuable role to play in making sure that Congress gets this legislation right.
As practitioners on the frontlines of ending hunger, the Feeding America network is in a unique position to impact the Farm Bill and help improve the lives of the people we serve through public policy. Please, consider joining the fight today.
