When you think of people in our community who can’t always access the food they need to thrive, it’s shocking to know that nearly 40% of food produced in the U.S. ends up in landfills. That’s 400 pounds per person every year!

It’s not just the weird-looking potatoes that are going to waste—although those are perfectly nutritious. It’s food that’s in misprinted packaging or produce with a short shelf life that can’t be distributed fast enough. Plus, a large percentage of food waste occurs at consumption, whether that’s at a restaurant or in your own home.
