Hosting a food drive can get your friends, family, co-workers, and community involved in the effort to solve hunger and help us provide a wider variety of food than we might otherwise have. Learn more about foods we need most.
Before launching a food drive, please consider combining it with a fund drive, too. Here’s why:
If you go to the store and buy food to give to a food drive, every dollar you spend puts only a dollar’s worth of food into the charity food distribution system. But every dollar you give directly to the Food Bank gets multiplied by 10, turning into 4 meals for someone in need.

What to collect. High-protein items like peanut butter or beans, low-sodium canned vegetables, and dry goods like rice and pasta are always appreciated. See this list for more most-needed items.
Where to take donations. Donations can be delivered to our warehouse located at 864 West River Center Drive in Comstock Park. We accept food donations Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please use our “Agency Entrance” on the building’s west side.
Publicizing your drive. When you are ready to host your food drive, the Food Bank can provide posters, brochures, donation boxes, envelopes for cash donations and, in some cases, donation barrels. Of course, we’ll be available to answer any questions you might have. For more information, contact Pattijean McCahill at firstname.lastname@example.org.
