DTE Energy Foundation commits $50,000 to support Feeding America West Michigan’s work in northwest Michigan

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich., Feb. 28, 2022 — The DTE Foundation is granting Feeding America West Michigan $50,000 this year to help fight hunger in northwest Michigan. These funds will enable the food bank to bring Mobile Food Pantries to the region and support the area’s traditional pantries.

“The DTE Foundation’s very generous support will help so many of our neighbors in need fill their plates this year,” said Kenneth Estelle, the food bank’s president and CEO. “This continues to be a tough time for many neighbors in the northwest part of our service area, and these funds will go a long way.”

The DTE Foundation is a long-time supporter of the food bank’s efforts to end hunger in West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Last year, they were honored as a gold partner, a designation they will retain in 2022.

“At the DTE Foundation, we know stable homes — where basic human needs are met — are the bedrock of strong communities. Feeding America West Michigan has unique systems and skills in place to distribute meals to those who need them without delay,” said Rodney Cole, vice president of the DTE Foundation “Not only is it the right thing to do, it’s our job as a corporate citizen to help our neighbors through partners and programs like this. As we continue to strive to be the best for the world, we’re committed to developing and promoting programs that meet basic human needs by delivering food, shelter, and health and wellness resources.”
