COMSTOCK PARK, Mich., Nov. 30, 2020 — Feeding America West Michigan will be expanding its Mobile Food Pantry program in the Upper Peninsula with support from the Superior Health Foundation. An $18,000 grant from the foundation will fund a food distribution in the following six U.P. counties:
- Schoolcraft, Delta and Gogebic where 1 in 5 people is facing hunger
- Houghton, Marquette and Menominee, where 1 in 6 people is facing hunger
The figures above are pandemic-based projections provided by the Feeding America National Office.
Each Mobile Pantry will provide nutritious food to around 300 families at no cost to them. Anyone who is in need may attend. Details about each food distribution can be found at FeedWM.org/mobile-pantry-schedule once it has been scheduled.
“So many of our U.P. neighbors are struggling right now,” said the food bank’s President and CEO Ken Estelle. “With the Superior Health Foundation’s support, we hope to reach nearly 2,000 families in the coming months.”
